
Reinhard Gehlen was Hitler's master spy; he was also a very well known legend. He was a major General for the for the German in World War ll.. Gehlen was born on April 3rd, 1902 in Erfurt, Germany. Reinhard gave his allegiance to the Nazis. Reinhard Gehlen was under the Nazi government of Adolf Hitler He was Recruited by the US to set up a spy ring against the Soviet Union. He was approached by Colonel Henning von Tresckow, Colonel Clause von Stauffenberg, and General Adolf Heusinger to participate in the assassination of Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944. Luckily Reinhard had a small role becuase the bomb failed and the conspirators were bruttaly punished when Hitler found out who had tried to kill him. On May 22nd. 1945 Gehlen was interrogated by Captain John Bokor. Reinhard Gehlen was valuable for the US because he had so much inside information concerning the Soviet Union. He offered them his information only if they agreed to give him his liberty and his friends who were put in American POW camps in Germany. On September 20, 1945, Gehlen and his three close associates were flown to the US so they could begin work for them. In July 1946 Reinhard Gehlen was released from the USA and flown back to Germany were he started his Intelligence work. After the War Gehlen became the President of the German Federal Intelligence Bureau and organized the Gehlen Orginization. Reinhard Gehlen died on the 8th of June, 1979, at age 77.
